What really is an CULT?

The definition of a cult from the Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia:

The word cult pejoratively refers to a group whose beliefs or practices are considered strange.^[1] The word originally denoted a system of ritual practices. The narrower, derogatory sense of the word is a product of the 20th century, especially since the 1980s, and is considered subjective. It is also a result of the anti-cult movement which uses the word in reference to groups seen as authoritarian, exploitative and that are believed to use dangerous rituals or mind control. The word implies a group which is a minority in a given society.

The popular, derogatory sense of the word has no currency in academic studies of religions, where "cults" are subsumed under the neutral label of the "new religious movement", while academic sociology has partly adopted the popular meaning of the word.

 

In America there are five groups that are the most notoories comptemporary examples of distructive "CULTS".

 David Koresh:

The story of David Koresh was broadcast all over national Telvision on every news channel. David Koresh called himself the son of God and have decieved many of his followers and was one of many who had a face of many disquises. He was born in Vernon Wayne Howell in Houston, Texas in 1959. His mother was only fifteen years when she gave birth to David Koresh and he never knew his father. David was raised by his grandparents. Conversations that David Koresh had with the FBI Agents in the late nights during the seige, Koresh was describing his childhood years as a lonely person. He statements in the conversation with the FBI Agents, school children would bully him and call him names and called him "Vernie"  He was dyslexic, a disfusal and mishave child so he dropped out of school. He enjoyed musical and had a very strong interest studying the bible. By the time David was twelve years old he could memorize many scriptures. when he reached twenty years old he turned to his mother's church, Church of Seventh Day Adventists, but was expelled from the church for being a bad influence on the younger group of the church.

Some time years later David Koresh moved to Hollywood to follow his dream being a rock star but nothing came out of it so instead in 1980 he moved to Waco, Texas where he joined the Branch Davidians, a religious sect which in 1935 had settled 10 miles outside of Waco. At one time, it had more than 1,400 members.At one time, it had more than 1,400 members.
Koresh had an affair with then-prophetess Lois Roden who was in her late sixties. The two travelled to Israel together. When Lois Roden died, a power struggle began between Koresh and Lois Roden's son George. For a short time, Koresh retreated with his followers to eastern Texas. But in late 1987 he returned to Mount Carmel in camouflage with seven male followers, armed with five .223 caliber semiautomatic assault rifles, two .22 caliber rifles, two 12-gauge shotguns and nearly 400 rounds of ammunition. During the gunfight, Roden was shot in the chest and hands.
He and his followers went on trial for attempted murder. The seven were acquitted and a mistrial was declared in Koresh's case. (Koresh told the jury he and his men went to Mount Carmel to find evidence of corpse abuse by Roden and their shots were aimed at a tree.)
By 1990 Koresh had become the leader of the Branch Davidians and legally changed his name, saying on the court document that the change was "for publicity and business purposes." He said the switch arose from his belief that he was now head of the biblical House of David. (Koresh is a Hebrew transliteration of Cyrus, the name of the Persian king who allowed the Jews held captive in Babylon to return to Israel.)

The end results of this seige, many innocent people were killed, included of the people were killed involved innocent children's lives.

 

David Koresh as many other cults were broadcast nationwide on the television. Just naming a few Jim Jones,People's Temple, Marshall Applewhite, Heaven's Gates. All the leaders to these groups all claimed to be son of God. Them any many more false apostles, deceitful workers disquising themselves as apostles of Christ Jesus. We have to remember that Satan disquises himself also as an angel of the light. (2 Cornithians 11: 13-15) Many of these cults claims that God has sent them to share the good news and God has instructed them to tell their followers how to live a righteous life but what they were really doing brainwashing many people's minds with lies. Calling themselves spiritual leaders to really get control over their followers and workers. If a follower disobeyed or tried to excape and wanted to leave, they payed serious conquences of their actions. They constimate  in their own little crowd and the leader claimed to be the prophet sent by Jesus. Spiritual leaders like Warren Jeffs, Winston Blackmore had many wives and had over hundren of children. Warren Jeffs was a leader of LDS, married to young children as young as twelve years. In long run Warren Jeffs was found quilty from the Canada judge of numerous charges of under age child molestion and now serving life term in the Canada priosn, my opinion that is where he belongs. Winston Blackmore is still under investigation for similar charges.

 

Churches are considered false prophets, only naming a few that preaches these practices: Johovah Witness, Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints, Seven Day Adventist. I am not religious, for I am a CHRISTIAN! There are many more cults out there, I only named a few and done my research on the ones I mentioned. I have watched the news when they were broadcasting about David Koresh and Jim Jones, other cults. These people who called themselves spiritual leaders, son of God mipulated many people. As a true christian you will know a false prophet by the way of their witnessing so follow your consciousness and the real truth comes from only one God.

The Bible has strong warnings for false prophets.

The word of the Lord came to me: "Son of man, prophesy against the prophets of Israel who are now prophesying. Say to those who prophesy out of their own imagination: 'Hear the word of the Lord! This is what the Sovereign Lord says: Woe to the foolish prophets who follow their own spirit and have seen nothing! Your prophets, O Israel, are like jackals among ruins. You have not gone up to the breaks in the wall to repair it for the house of Israel so that it will stand firm in the battle on the day of the Lord. Their visions are false and their divinations a lie. They say, "The Lord declares," when the Lord has not sent them; yet they expect their words to be fulfilled. Have you not seen false visions and uttered lying divinations when you say, "The Lord declares," though I have not spoken? " 'Therefore this is what the Sovereign Lord says: Because of your false words and lying visions, I am against you, declares the Sovereign Lord. My hand will be against the prophets who see false visions and utter lying divinations. They will not belong to the council of my people or be listed in the records of the house of Israel, nor will they enter the land of Israel. Then you will know that I am the Sovereign Lord. " 'Because they lead my people astray, saying, "Peace," when there is no peace, and because, when a flimsy wall is built, they cover it with whitewash, therefore tell those who cover it with whitewash that it is going to fall. Rain will come in torrents, and I will send hailstones hurtling down, and violent winds will burst forth. When the wall collapses, will people not ask you, "Where is the whitewash you covered it with?" (Ezek 13:1-12).

"From the least to the greatest, all are greedy for gain; prophets and priests alike, all practice deceit. They dress the wound of my people as though it were not serious. 'Peace, peace,' they say, when there is no peace. Are they ashamed of their loathsome conduct? No, they have no shame at all; they do not even know how to blush. So they will fall among the fallen; they will be brought down when I punish them," says the Lord (Jer 6:13-15).

They have lied about the Lord; they said, "He will do nothing! No harm will come to us; we will never see sword or famine. The prophets are but wind and the word is not in them; so let what they say be done to them." (Jer 5:12,13).

This is what the Lord Almighty says: "Do not listen to what the prophets are prophesying to you; they fill you with false hopes. They speak visions from their own minds, not from the mouth of the Lord. They keep saying to those who despise me, 'The Lord says: You will have peace.' And to all who follow the stubbornness of their hearts they say, 'No harm will come to you.' But which of them has stood in the council of the Lord to see or to hear his word? Who has listened and heard his word? (Jer 23:16-18).

Then the Lord said to me, "Do not pray for the well-being of this people. Although they fast, I will not listen to their cry; though they offer burnt offerings and grain offerings, I will not accept them. Instead, I will destroy them with the sword, famine and plague." But I said, "Ah, Sovereign Lord, the prophets keep telling them, 'You will not see the sword or suffer famine. Indeed, I will give you lasting peace in this place.' " Then the Lord said to me, "The prophets are prophesying lies in my name. I have not sent them or appointed them or spoken to them. They are prophesying to you false visions, divinations, idolatries and the delusions of their own minds. Therefore, this is what the Lord says about the prophets who are prophesying in my name: I did not send them, yet they are saying, 'No sword or famine will touch this land.' Those same prophets will perish by sword and famine. And the people they are prophesying to will be thrown out into the streets of Jerusalem because of the famine and sword. There will be no one to bury them or their wives, their sons or their daughters. I will pour out on them the calamity they deserve (Jer 14:11-11

Keep Alert and be cautious and keep your eyes opened to your heart. Satan is lier, a mipulater, an Angel of the darkness, but wears faces of many disquises and will work in people and come to disguise himself as an angel of the light.
