NASA doesn't like the science in 2012 and the film tops their list of the most absurd and unrealistic science fiction films ever. The blockbuster film that is a cinematic marathon of non-stop disasters befalling our beloved planet earth was deemed an “exceptional and extraordinary” example of bad science by NASA's Donald Yeomans.
Why should NASA come down so hard on a movie? It's just fiction, right? Well, apparently there are some people who are not so sure. Some fear that because the Mayan calendar ends in the year 2012, our existence will also. NASA has received so many questions from people who believe that we're facing destruction that they've had to put up a special website to combat all of the myths. Yeomans believes the movie makers have taken advantage of the fearful.
Have you seen this movie? Are you nervous about solar flares that carry neutrino particles that will bake our planet's core? Relax. NASA says neutrino particles can disrupt radio signals but they can't interact with physical substances.
