Sylvia sat out on her deck, sipping her morning coffee. The money she earned from her books and lectures on the environment allowed her to put a down payment on a little bungalow in Radcliff Hills. Gazing at the green hills beyond the self-sufficient little valley town, she mediated on the legal victory over the rabid land developers who would have destroyed that beauty as well as the watershed to slap together shoddy tract homes that few would buy.

A nudge at her side brought her attention to the present. Her German shepherd presented her with a chewed-up tennis ball.

“Good boy,” said as she pulled it from his mouth. “Wanna play some fetch?”

Gazing at the lush green hills beyond the city, she meditated on the re-greening of the earth after the seemingly endless wars over land use and the environment and felt contented that she was on the right side of the battle.
