Mets still hot after rain delay; break away in 3rd inning

The New York Mets came back from the nearly hour long rain delay by scoring 2 more runs. Making his major league debut was Jay Sborz, and he did not fare better. Rod Barajas led off with a hit by pitch and then Jeff Francoeur was hit by a pitch to score in David Wright. Ruben Tejada then hit a sharp grounder towards the third base line. Brandon Inge made a diving play and tagged third, but Bay scored. Pitcher Niese struck out, but Reyes singled in Francoeur and then stole second. Angel Pagan continued to show why he should start and hit a two rbi single to right field. David right singled and Ike Davis hit a two rbi double off the left field wall off of Brad Thomas. He then walked Bay and Barajas to load the bases. The Mets had 14 players at bat in the inning. Justin Verlander's ended his night with 5 earned runs over two innings, while rookie Jay Sborz had a disaster of a major league debut, giving up 5 runs over 2/3 innings pitched. It seems as though Jonathon Niese is staying in the game, which was a good call at first, but now must be questioned, as the break-away 8 run inning added about half an hour to the hour rain delay, meaning that Niese hasn't been on the mound in almost two hours.
