Alone,

That's the long and short of it,

That's the overriding tone,

Sharing the ether tonight.

 

Alone,

Looking for a star,

That isn't just a one way drone,

And reflects to a heart that's mine.

 

Stargazing,

Crazing,

These jumbles of thought tonight.

Under universal velvet,

Will alone ever really seem right?

The heart is a mirror and your stars are the perfect reflections. Aloneness rises God. I can feel Him in this writing.

God is more than just that word. I see a flower. I say, it is God. I see the smile on your bearded face and i say, it is God.
Lol.
God is a poor substitute for nature, at it's root.

I'm not sure "alone" ever feels right, but it's better than being with someone and feeling alone.

Nice phrasing Ron. I too like "Universal Velvet". This is a wonderfully reflective poem and perfectly captures that silence one feels when stargazing, standing by the ocean, or walking the length of a snowy field. The dull ache of longing in this poem is palpable.
