Mary did not have a little lamb
She had a cow not white as snow
It would not follow her where she went
No matter how hard she tried to pull
The cow did not follow her to school one day
As Mary had skipped school
Mary fell asleep and lay beside the hay
She was found when the cow went moo
Mary's dad was all put out
To take her off to school
Leaving the cow to walk about
With Mary crying boo hoo
It wasn't for the cow she cried
Mary just wanted to play hookey
Her father glared and asked her why
Mary's reply "I wanted milk for the cookies."

Great Poem.
I heard an alternate version once in the movie The Newton Boys.
Mary had a little lamb
Her father killed it dead
and now it goes to school with her
between two chunks of bread.
I didn't say it was a NICE version. ;-)
