What’s all this talk about bussing kids to school?

In my days we walked to school. Though it took me two days to git there and two days to git back, I still walked.

 I may be dumb as a corn husk, but I used my own know hows to git to school.

What ‘s all this hand holding with parents meeting their bussed kids at school to walk them in? 

 In my days, Pa was out cleaning the pig pens and Ma was milking Elsie.

 I may be dumb as a corn husk, but I knew better than to hold Pa or Ma’s hands.  

What’s all this talk about scheduling kids to keep em busy.

 In my days, we were plenty busy with our schedules. 

 I may be dumb as corn husk, but I knew to wake up with the first cock-a-doodle doo and to come runnin’ in when the cow bell rang. 

What’s all this talk about ranting?

In my days you were whooped if you ranted.

I may be dumb as a corn husk, but I knew better than to rant from sliding on cow-pie, while chasing the chicken with an axe.
