What Am I?? ~#2~

I wear a face but have no skin

No ears, nose, mouth or even chin

I have no eyes so I can't see

I'm closely watched by so many

My arms have never held a thing

And hands have not a sparkle ring

I move inside with screws and springs

Not your 'normal' inner workings

Some call my job Father and hold it in revere

Listen my children and you may hear

A faint "tick-tock, tick-tock" inside your ear

My work's sometimes wasted, rushed and abused

But, continues 'til all your days are used

It has no beginning and never ends

Has already seen and already been

And, if it's kind or tough on you

Depends on what you chose to do

So use it wisely, safe and sound

And I'll continue counting down

Children love a well-metered verse, Ladybounty. I love a well-metered verse. :-) This was a pleasure to read. I didn't see all of the prompts and I'm not sure that that was your goal. You used some of them that I can readily see.

In all the years I've been here...this is my first attempt participating in the Writing Essentials challenges...
It was fun and I really never thought that I could do it!
I tried to use everything that you gave us....but maybe I missed something....

Thanks Lynn! Why yes I do......actually there are several song lyric clusters here but one in particular that I put in....not only is this... Listen my children and you........from the famous poem by Wadsworth....The Midnight Ride of Paul Revere but it's also in the lyrics from an old song done by the Devotions called Rip Van Winkle that goes like this:

I think this would be great for children. I think they'd like it. And the wisdom at the end is a definite bonus. Hope you had as much fun writing this as I had reading it.
