There are times it would be so much easier to be mad, angry, depressed, sad, upset in some other way than to be happy in this life. There are so many things that are thrown in our paths that can try to interrupt our happy lives and we have the choice to make the best of the situation and turn it around and continue to be happy or we can allow it to get the best of us and get mad, depressed, sad, etc. I find it very hard at times to be happy and and know that God is in control and that I have the freedom of choice to make my life and others miserable by my unhappy actions or I can stay at peace and continue to be happy by choice. This si definitely a choice we can make ourselves and I want to know how you handle it and what you choose? I am not saying I choose to be happy all the time because I mess up and allow my emotions to get the best of me and I make myself miserable as well as my husband and whoever I am upset with but I am learning in my old age that making the choice of being happy no matter what is better for my health, mind, peace and life in general land relationship with my loved ones. Tell me about how you handle this? Thanks and God bless you!

If you were happy all of the time, how would you know that you were happy? I really feel that people need some sadness so that they can really appreciate what happiness is.
I think you are exactly right. But even though we might not be happy all the time, we still have to have that joy inside knowing things are going to be ok. God is in control! God bless you and thanks so much for your comment.
What a deep question. Of course it's tempting to be enabled to be "happy all the time" but that would certainly be a lopsided kind of life and maybe blind to what life is about with all the ups and downs. To avoid trouble is a good idea to try to minimize the pain, as much as we can. Are you familiar with the concept of being Centered, controlling your emotions so you don't swing from one to the other too much? Are you into meditation? That's helpful, IMO. What I say more and feel a preferable aim in life is to be content, taking what comes and coping with it all, not be too up or too down. Happiness is a blessing, like gravy on the mashed potatoes. Be well, aloha,
Thanks you so much for your comment. You are right that it all boils down to being in a state of content no matter what situation we are in. I think that will bring us peace and once again we won't lose our joy no matter what stiuation we are in. Thanks and God bless you!
The above post was Happiness 100; here's 101:
That was the easier part. This is when the going gets rougher:
1) It's harder to just let it go, it's really sad, really heavy, hard to handle. So you should grieve, cry, feel. Time will heal, believe.
2) When you're in control of your grief again, get a perspective on things. Look at the long term if possible. Look at any positive aspects, if possible; they're there, if few.
3) Reach out to your net of family, friends, church you can count on if only to cry on their shoulder, listen to you. Get online with your feelings. Don't feel shamed or shy. Reading, poetry, music you know have given you comfort.
Be well, hoping problems mostly pass you by. Aloha,
