They say Spring is coming. I for one, can't wait until the snow is gone, green grass sprouting up from the ground, pussy willows on the thin branches, the woodpeckers making the pecking sounds in the backyard, daffodils coming up in my flower garden, and leaves budding on the trees.
I see so much depression during the winter months. The teens where I work seem to be having spring fever for they are restless, their tension is building and spatting with their peers. The staff is planning outings of bowling, the movies, trip to the museum and a day at the Y for some swimming. Maybe this can keep them occupied until they can go outside and get some warm fresh air. Then the teens can get that pent up engery out, concentrate on their own treatment, and get out of their depressing moods.
It's hard enough being a teen, but to have to deal with problems that were dealt to them. Most of them have had to grow up fast. Parents who just don't care. Hopefully, with guidance some of them will not live in the past. I have to have hope that my help will make a difference in their lives of these teens.
