Fragmentary speeches tumble effortlessly
Evading hinterland ritual burials
As old vices dig deeply in varnished remains
Ripping off the warning tags firmly affixed as
Slaked history sows faded misery once more

Only the clutches of severance unwinding
Necrotic parsed elements patched resets
Labels dusted off allowing such awakens
Years of isolation reviving purged plight

Denial tears gratitude from despair needing
Erstwhile promise growing colder kindling disdain
Sobering awareness disturbing distortions
Thoughtless greedy bastards define social mores
Rejecting the epitaph with burning decrees
Only to never figure the rising Phoenix
Yelling that's enough in unity arising

Saving Democracy shouting Democracy
Our land with freedom singing and freedom ringing
Casting out the liars and thieves bringing justice
Into the light of day, yes precious light of day
Endearing the revival of hope once again
Towards the shining light on the hill we should be
Yes, retake our land so again freedom's song sings

This was an experiment. I must admit the metaphor is a bit thick and you'd have to know the past 100 years of US history to get all the nuances, except for the last stanza.

I had to re-read the second stanza a few times, but overall the message was clear. I do hope we can cast out the liars and thieves and not replace them with new ones of the same ilk.

I think there will be an uprising of some sort, sooner or later to take back our freedom, I don't see it in the political game right now., Let Freedom Ring, is a wonderful line from an old and wonderful song, but our freedoms are disappearing little by little, not by contituional change, but by being legislated out and people are standing by watching them go with not even a peep, so another generation will have to rise up and fix it, this one is asleep.

If we cast all the liars and thieves out of our go vernment, we probably would not have anyone left on the hill. I am so ready to see freedom ring again. To find someone who wants to start repairing the problems. I say lets, all just go back to the 1950's when life was still wonderful, even for poor people, they were rich on love and respect.

The pace of the words is increased by your choice not to use commas and lends itself to the sense of foreboding. This is one of those works that is rich in detail and would be fun to hear from the author (you) about what moved you to write this, how you chose the format, the relationships to history you allude to above.

this is amazingly sharp and hits the mark and really....one does have to know a lot of history to really get all of it.....but it is a very well done expression of todays times.

I admit I had to struggle with some of it, and I have always been a history buff. It takes some thought, but that is not always a bad thing. It does have a wonderful message intricately in there. I have done some like that, though never that masterfully! Awesome.

Politics is a no-win situation for the electorate. They are forgotten immediateyly when the last vote is cast.

But it's not just a US thing. It's world wide.
The electorate is directly to blame for this situation. Why? Because they just accept and accept.

Remember what Disraeli said. "All the it takes for chaos to happen is for good men to do nothing."

No-one has ever taken Kissinger to task for the chaos he has caused, for example.
Elsewhere the same sort of things are happening.
