I SEEK THE RED LIGHTS

I seek the red lights, in traffic.

So, I can savor, the moments,...pause.

A great sigh of relief,

for not having to proceed any further down the road. At least, for a moment.

A breath of relaxation.

 

As I drive, I search out the long way,

Where the speed limit may be slower, so I can just,...putt along.

 I can look down the road, I am traveling, and see things from a distance.

Supplying myself with more time to decide if I want to proceed any further.

 

Time alone is sheer pleasure.

I've learned to enjoy the aniticpation of the experience.

Then, upon it's arrival, I bask in it's velvety thickness.

Satifying and soothing to my soul

 

I seek the red lights, for the moments pause

I didn't used to, either. I ran around very fast, and hectic. Drove fast, talked fast, waled fast. Everything was hurry, hurry, hurry! Always cursing the red lights, that made me stop. Feeling, "I WANT TO GET THIS DONE. I WANT TO GET THIS FINISHED, I WANT TO GET THIS OVER WITH, SO I CAN RELAX, AND ENJOY"! The green lights, oonly kept me going, going, going, and no down time ever arrived. Then one day, I realized, nothing will stop, or be finished, or slow down, until I slow down, and stop. So, I changed tactics. It worked.
that is what it takes to be able to do that Dorothy . . . .

Gotta remember that. I plan my driving route to miss as many lights as possible. My ex frustrates me because he goes the way with all the lights. I'm gonna have to ask him if that is why.
